what does is CQ? Change of Quarters?? ?

Q: My boyfriend has been telling me that he's had to be in CQ since he's been at AIT. I read that it means duty past regular time.... something like that. So is he just like working overtime? it sounds like he would be trying to change where he's sleeping or maybe what his mos is? did he get in trouble and have to do this as a punishment? he's at Fort Sam and his MOS is 68W .... he has told me every night that he's had CQ and it lasts about 2 hours because he calls me afterwards. I asked him what it was and he said he didn't know what it stood for, he just does it..... Could he be misunderstanding what it is he's doing or what?

A: I think it depends on where you are and what they are going to have you do, I picked up cigarettes buts in AIT, fun, fun fun. Usually CQ is nce a month, who knows a CQ that lasts two hours is pretty good duty, usually CQ is a 24 or 12 hours duty. What is he doing, he is amking sure no nonmilitary personnel go into the barracks like we had some person dressed up in a uniform try to get into the female section once in AIT. To answers the phone and to make sure ther eis someone awake if an emergency occurs, to keep drinking soldiers out of the halls and to stop a fight before it excorlates, to call the MP"s if necessary, to make sure all visitors went hoem when they were suppose to and didn;t sleep over ect.
