Misdiagnosed With asthma and want to join the navy.?

Q: I want to go into the navy and have been diagnosed with asthma. They have given me inhalers but none have worked. When I did feel out of breathe if I stoped for a second I was able to catch it and continue no problem, I have been overweight most of my life and out of shape, when I did lose weight and got in shape I was able to exersie no problem. Could they have thought that me being overweight and out of shape as asthma. I was diagnosed before 12 and only have been getting an inhauler each year for football although I did not use them and all expired with out me using them. And are there ay test to prove I do not have asthma. Two recruiters said I can join because I have had no symptoms for two years, but I do not want to get kicked out during basic and waist my time or the governments time and money.

A: Yes you can be tested for asthma before going to see a recruiter. Heres a link that will tell you more about it. http://www.healthline.com/adamcontent/pulmonary-function-tests As far as I know the recruiters are telling you the truth as that is the same thing that I was told when I came into the Army in 2001. When I had what they thought was asthma I began eating right (no fast food, no sodas, etc) and exercising more and sleeping better and had loads less problems.
