Q: I've been married almost five years to an American citizen..I'm canadian and have had my green card for a year now..Its not conditional and it expires in ten years..We filed for divorce a few months ago and i came back to canada for a bit to figure things out..My soon to be ex has informed me that he has moved into another apt by himself..I've been in canada for 3 months now and plan on returning to the u.s. once i get things straightened out..Our divorce isn't finalized yet...He has filled out a change of address form for sponsors...My question is if i'm in canada temporarily, do i put my canadian address??..All of my stuff is still with him in the states, but my name is not on the lease..Legally, we are still married..but i have to fill out that alien's change of address form..I'm only in canada temporarily...so what do i do??? Thank-you!
A: AR-11 asks if the address is temporary and if so how long will you be there. Give your Canadian address and expected date of return. (Over 6 months effects you continuous residence so make it less than 6 months and be sure to file a new AR-11 upon return to the US). Hopefully things will work out for you. Good Luck!
