Q: Don't people realize what's going on here? If we increase taxes on those making 100,000 a year to almost 50% (we're at 42% now) and hardly tax the poor at all, give the poor huge welfare programs, nationalize healthcare.. we are becoming communist. We're redistributing wealth and equallizing everything out. This is not the American way. Sure we need social mobility, but if we equal everything out there is no motivation for one person to try harder to be better than the next guy. That's why communism fails. Drives me crazy how left we're becoming. So fashionable to punish the rich for succeeding. Liberals always disguise their jealousy as "justice". Its not "fair" that others have more money then me. They must be punished. Back in 1900 federal income tax was for only top 10% of incomes, and then it was only 3% of your income. So in 2008, those making over 100,000 pay over 40%. Don't tell me that money hungry, big government, liberals aren't winning the war.
A: Many people want to take the easy way out. We as a society are growing lazy and forgetting the lessons of the past about Socialism and Communism. It's human nature to want to keep the lion's share of what you earn; even those who are imposing this new order want that, but they think, as did the leaders of Communist China and the USSR before them, that they can keep what they have secretly, while forcing the common people to all live in a state of common poverty. Apparently they haven't learned from history.
