Q: I really think that Social Security has been a hugh factor in keeping our economy afloat right now. Recipients are tose at the lower end of the economy and put their entitlements back into the economy very quickly. Most do not have full time jobs, so they are putting money into the economy without taking up a job slot. Of course, most people aren't getting the same return as if the money collected from them over the years had been placed in annuities. At least, I am not. I mean, so many people decry this program, but in light that corporations have folded up and so many have lost their private retirement funds, isn't this a good thing we still have it ? sorry, outtolunch, perhaps you missed todays events ? Worst series of Bank failures since 1929. Of course retirement accounts are insured up to $ 250,000. More than that, people lose their investment. Hope you fare well with yours. It's awful to not be able to work and lose all you've saved. Social Security is insurance.
A: my husband died on valentines day of this year at age 36. i work and my children are recieving ssi survivors benefits. we save it or use it in dire straits. my children wan't to save theirs for college. but many people survive off of their benefits when a loved one dies. ssi has saved many people in emergencies like mine
