Q: I received a letter of summons for jury about two weeks ago. It said that I had to show up for jury duty on Monday September 15. When I called the juror number and entered in my information, I got a voice recording saying that I did not have to show up on Monday. I called on Monday and it said that I did not have to show up on Tuesday and I called again and it said the same about Wednesday. Is it possible for the court not to require me to go in at all? I won't get in trouble for not showing up right? Because I did call and the recording said I did not have to show up.
A: Yea you will be totally fine, and you did the responsible thing by calling the hot-line to check on the necessity of your appearance. I would just call the courthouse and speak to someone real just to reaffirm and notify them that you did in fact attempt to come in.
